Liberty University will welcome thousands of alumni back for Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 18-19, to reunite with old friends, visit new facilities on Liberty’s ever-growing campus, and cheer on the defending Big South champion Flames Football team.
Homecoming will begin at 10 a.m. at Friday’s Convocation in the Vines Center.
Activities for this year will include a wide range of exciting events such as Friday night’s Family Carnival Dinner on the back lawn of the Hancock Welcome Center. New to the carnival this year will be hot air balloon rides and a Ferris wheel.
“We are very excited to bring back the carnival this year,” said Tyler Falwell, director of Alumni Relations. “Last year we had record attendance, and the setup proved to be the best for the majority of our alumni who have families. I believe the word has spread, as this year we have more pre-registrants than ever before.”
On Saturday, Flames fans can attend the special Homecoming tailgate starting at noon ($5 per person), enjoy the annual Homecoming parade at 1 p.m., then fan the Flames as they take on conference rival Coastal Carolina at 3:30 p.m.
Alumni will also have the chance to attend more sporting events throughout the weekend, including field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s ice hockey.
The full schedule of Liberty’s Homecoming events can be found at www.Liberty.edu/Alumni/Homecoming. A welcome packet and tickets can be picked up at check-in, which begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.
