The Liberty Campus Band leads more than 10,000 students in worship four times a week at Convocation and Campus Church services. Their mission is to lift Jesus high, prepare hearts for the Word, and give students the opportunity to worship God together.

The band consists of six undergraduate and graduate students, and is led by Liberty Worship Pastor Justin Kintzel. Kintzel, who has been involved with the Campus Band for six years, says he does not go by any standard formula for selecting members during auditions. He simply chooses students whose lives reflect Christ both on and off the stage.

Every semester presents new challenges for the band as each member balances their class schedule, social life, family, and other commitments, while also dedicating several hours a week to rehearsal and performances.

The Campus Band has an impressive repertoire of more than 100 songs, some of which are originals written by the team members themselves. Currently, they are producing a worship CD which was recorded live last semester. Thousands of students showed up for the recording to worship Christ and encourage the band. The CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray disc of the live concert will be available after Convocation and campus church beginning in April.

“We just want to be vessels for Jesus and help Him do the work He wishes to do in the lives of those who hear us,” Kintzel says. “Whether [people] are listening on the radio, watching us on television, or standing five feet away from the stage, we want to see lives changed through Christ being lifted high.”
